Preserves and Conserves |
 |
True mouth-watering preserves and conserves are not made and sold often anymore. They take too much time to make in our busy, take-out mentality culture!
A preserve is a spread that contains sliced fruit ingredients that hold their shape while being cooked. Traditionally, it is spread on breakfast foods like toast, but the Lady prefers a dab of Peach Preserves on tender pork tenderloin or cold vanilla bean ice cream!
A conserve is a spread that is very chunky. It contains two fruits plus a citrus fruit, and perhaps a nut or raisin. It is the thickest of all spreads, and is never shy when spread on a thick bagel or spooned over pound cake!
